Welcome to the offical camapign website of
Santa Clarita City Council candidate Jon Hatami
My family and I moved to Santa Clarita Valley in 1983. I attended and graduated from Canyon
High School in 1987, and currently live in Canyon Country with my wife, Roxanne, who is a
Deputy Sheriff on patrol in Santa Clarita Valley. I remember when Santa Clarita was a safe,
neighborly place to live with leaders we respect. My goal is to return to our roots - to work to
make Santa Clarita a family place that supports sustainable growth, good fiscal management,
forward thinking leadership, free of corruption, but open for legitimate business investment. I’m
not a politician, but through service to my country in the United States Army as an enlisted man
in the Light Infantry, and a second enlistment in the Military Police Corps, and now as a Los
Angeles County Deputy District Attorney at the Antelope Valley Courthouse, I understand both
the privilege and solemn duty of public service. I am asking for your vote for Santa Clarita City
Council in 2012 because I live here and care about this community and can no longer stand by
and watch Santa Clarita grow in the wrong direction. I will work hard for what is right for the
future of Santa Clarita and for the residents of our city.
I’m a conservative, running on a pro-family, anticrime platform. The majority of the men and
women in my campaign are Deputy Sheriff’s, police officers, District Attorney Investigators,
and Deputy District Attorneys, including my two campaign managers, Josh and Gabe. I care
about issues that matter to us, like protecting our community and way of life, sensible growth,
strengthening our public schools, guiding our youth, reducing crime, and removing hazards
like CEMEX and Whittaker/Bermite. Working as a felony trial attorney at the Antelope Valley
Courthouse, and living in Santa Clarita, I’ve seen how crime affects our City and Valley; I
have prosecuted numerous serious and violent felons, the majority of which were gang cases.
I constantly hear about crime statistics, but it is my belief that a murder victim, a victim of a
heroin overdose, or a victim of child abuse or sexual assault is not a statistic, they are people!
Santa Clarita is such a great city. I want to keep it that way.
I will work hard to build a new police station in Santa Clarita, a Canyon Country sub-station,
implement two mall deputies, implement neighborhood policing through bicycle patrols,
propose a burglary suppression team, and request two O.S.S. detectives be assigned to the Santa
Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. We need to protect our citizens and their businesses. I want to
provide my Sheriff’s Department with what they need to combat crime and protect our children,
especially from the abuses of heroin and methamphetamine. I am strongly opposed to section
8 housing in my city and “realignment” in the county, and am 100% against all forms of drugs,
including medical marijuana. I will put in place practical solutions and seek to solve problems
before they start; I will create opportunities to make Santa Clarita a better place to live and put
your hard earned tax dollars to use in practical and sensible ways, by giving our residents what
they want, not just what the city council wants.
The issues that face our city will come and go. But the thing that is most needed is people of
character and integrity. It’s not simply about the issues, but knowing what to do when the issues
come and that’s why I am asking to represent you as our next city councilperson and respectfully
asking for your vote. I am happy to make myself available to meet with you to earn your support.
